Salaam's self-titled first CD is an aural snapshot, taken in 1995, of the band's magical roots. The music is a fusion of east and west and has mystical and ephemeral qualities. Included are original compositions by Dena El Saffar and Megan Weeder, and captivating renditions of Egyptian, Sephardic and Armenian melodies. In a 1996 write-up, Billboard magazine referred to this album as "enchanting".

Recorded and engineered by Grey Larsen at Sleepy Creek Studios in Unionville, IN. The musicianship and creativity make this CD enjoyable to listen to and hard to classify!
